mbloom is pleased to announce that it closed on a seed investment in Fanhandle, Inc. The Waimea-based company was founded by entrepreneur Darius “Bubs” Monsef IV, whose previous company, Creative Market, raised $3.6 million and was acquired by Autodesk in 2014.

“We are pleased to welcome Fanhandle into our portfolio and look forward to working together with Bubs,” said Arben Kryeziu, general partner at mbloom. “Fanhandle is pursuing a massive opportunity created by allowing brands to harness the power of their fans through direct and authentic relationships. Bubs is a proven entrepreneur and a great representation of the incredible entrepreneurial talent we have here in Hawaii, which mbloom is proud to support.”

This investment brings mbloom’s portfolio count to 7 companies, 5 of which were launched from Hawaii.

“mbloom’s investment helps us fill out a round of great investment partners that gives us the initial seed capital to get our product to market,” said Monsef. “We’re also excited to work with a local investor who’s committed to the success of not only our company, but Hawaii’s startup ecosystem as a whole.”

Fanhandle, Inc. is headquartered out of Waimea on the Big Island, with offices in Portland, OR and Los Angeles, CA, and employs a team of 11 people. With roots in Hawaii, 3 of the cofounders were born and raised in the islands. The Fanhandle product helps celebrities and personal brands create authentic engagement with their fans.
