State Money Available for Entrepreneurial Events

BitcoinHawaii Strategic Development Corporation has recently opened up the request for proposal process for their HI Growth Connect and Network (CAN) program. CAN is a one-year $250,000 grant program, of which $75,000 is earmarked for events which connect Hawaii entrepreneurs with investors.

According to the CAN webpage, money is available for “meet-ups, pitch events, investor summits, Startup Weekends and new co-working spaces.” HSDC further qualifies eligible events as those “that connect Hawaii’s entrepreneurial, investor and corporate communities.” Past events that have used CAN funds include Startup Weekends and Startup Paradise Demo Days. A list of previously sponsored events can be found on the CAN webpage.

The program is open to for-profits and non-profits, and for sponsorship of events in FY2016, which is July, 2015, through June, 2016.
