We need hackers at StartupWeekend April 27-29th. There is a lot of energy around building the Hawaii startup scene, but there isn’t a scene without the makers. Rails, LAMP, .NET… Whatever your flavor, come out and spend a weekend testing your skills and help a team build an idea.
My company is sponsoring the event and I’ve got 5 tickets for hackers to come for free. All you have to do to enter for a chance to win a ticket is to post a comment below answering two questions:
What is an interesting project/app/site you built & launched?
(give us the details, show off)
Modern Warfare or Skyrim?
(the previous question was the important one)
StartupWeekend is coming up at the end of next month and it’s a challenge to plan, design, build & launch a startup in one weekend. The key part there is “launch”. I’ve participated in a couple StartupWeekend events and I’ve seen a bunch of ideas worked on, but only a few have really survived… They did so, because they had something to get traction with. If I was writing the StartupWeekend slogan I’d make it “launch something.”
Teams that just make a business plan or sketch ideas, rarely stay together after the event. You need glue to keep the team together and the idea growing… and nothing is stickier than real traction. Come build & launch something.
If you’re a hacker / developer / engineer, come out for a fun weekend. Worst thing that can happen is you’ll get free food. Best thing that’ll happen is you get excited about building a startup… or you get a job offer from an awesome growing startup that is venture backed and looking for talented people.
